French Star Timoteï Cez Maintains Winning Ways To Top Second Round of 2023 Junior e-Motocross Series

Racing in front of his home crowd for round two of the 2023 Junior e-Motocross Series, Timoteï Cez was once again unbeatable aboard his GASGAS MC-E 5 as the young French racer won both races to extend his series lead. Second overall was fellow Frenchman Jordan Cadenel (Husqvarna) with Spaniard Adan Quesada (KTM) stepping onto the overall podium for the first time this year in third.

The deeply rutted and incredibly technical circuit of Villars sous Ecot was the venue for round two of the 2023 European Junior e-Motocross Series. Held two weeks after the successful season-opener in Spain, another full line-up of 40 youngsters made the trip to the east of France for the second round to compete at what was a new venue for the series. Setting the pace around the slightly shortened circuit in qualifying was early points leader Timoteï Cez, ahead of last year’s series runner-up, Austin Edwards (KTM) from Great Britain.

Spanish racer Quesada aboard his KTM SX-E 5 led the way early on in race one ahead of Cez and Cadenel, before Cez found a way by to take the lead on lap two. From there Cez would build up a comfortable margin and go on to take victory from Quesada in second, who secured his best race result of the series so far. Third would go to Cadenel with the top three riders well ahead of the chasing pack.

Race two was much closer at the finish with the top three riders separated by less than four seconds! Leading from the start and looking to take two wins from two races was Cez. Close behind was Cadenel and the fast-starting Edwards with both riders vying for their first race win of the year. Remaining calm at the front and spurred on by his home fans, Cez would ultimately claim his fourth straight race win of the year by the narrowest of margins ahead of Cadenel in second with Edwards in third.

With two race wins, the overall went to Cez who extends his series lead to 14 points over Cadenel. Lucas Bos (GASGAS), who placed third overall in Spain, maintains third in the standings with the top five rounded out by Camronn Gautier (KTM) in fourth and Quesada in fifth.

The 2023 European Junior e-Motocross Series now heads to Germany for the third stop of the series on the weekend of June 10-11, running alongside the MXGP of Germany at the historic Teuschenthal race track.

Timoteï Cez: “It’s been another great weekend! Winning at my home race is really special but it wasn’t easy. Race one was really good as I was able to ride quite comfortably up front but in race two, it was really hard work. It was such a close race with Jordan and Austin and I gave it everything I had to take the win. So far, it’s been a great season and I’m looking forward to round three in Germany.”

Timoteï Cez Dominates Opening Round of the 2023 Junior e-Motocross Series in Spain

Reigning Junior e-Motocross Series Champion Timoteï Cez has raced to a stunning pair of moto wins at round one of the 2023 series to claim overall victory in Spain. The young French rider, competing on a GASGAS MC-E 5 for his title defence, was simply unstoppable on Spanish soil and began the new championship with a winning start. Rounding out the podium were fellow French racers Jordan Cadenel (GASGAS) in second with Lucas Bos (KTM) in third.

The technical intu Xanadú circuit in Spain played host to round one of the 2023 European Junior e-Motocross Series. A full line-up of 40 young riders from across the world made the trip to the season-opener and their weekend began with a qualifying session on Saturday morning to decide the starting order for the two seven-minute-plus-one-lap races. Posting a lap time almost five seconds faster than his closest competition, Timoteï Cez would lead the enthusiastic young riders to the line in both motos.

Leading from start to finish, Cez dominated race one to win by a staggering 46 seconds and add 25 points to his series tally. Behind the 2022 champion, Cadenel completed lap one in seventh before charging forwards and moving into second on the penultimate lap to claim his hard-fought runner-up finish. Another rider on the move in moto one was Bos on his KTM SX-E 5. Starting from outside the top 10, the French racer made two passes on the final lap to secure third.

In race two, Cez matched his moto one result, this time with a margin of victory of 20 seconds. With his nearest rivals from race one, Cadenel and Bos, rounding the first turn up front, they did all they could to stay with the fast-starting Frenchman. As they worked their way past another rising French star, Camronn Gautier, who held second until the halfway point of the race, the duo gave it everything they had but would ultimately equal their moto one results with Cadenel second and Bos in third.

With the dust now settled on an exciting opening round, the 2023 European Junior e-Motocross Series continues in two weeks’ time at the MXGP of France on May 20-21. With French riders filling the top four spots in the series standings, Cez, Cadenel, Bos, and Gautier will be eager and excited to race in front of their home crowd at the hillside circuit of Villars sous Ecot.

Timoteï Cez: “It’s amazing to start the new season with a win! The race on Saturday was really good and the track was quite technical. I got a great start and just stayed out of trouble and won with a nice margin. The second race was good as well and to win the overall is amazing. I had great starts in both races, which is really important. Up next is my home GP in France so I’m looking forward to that one!”
